What is the PLAB Exam?
The Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) exam is a two-part assessment for international medical graduates who wish to practice medicine in the UK. It evaluates your medical knowledge, clinical skills, and ability to work in the NHS.

PLAB 1 – Knowledge-Based Assessment
PLAB 1 is a multiple-choice exam with 180 questions that test your understanding of basic medical sciences, clinical practice, and patient management. It is conducted in various locations worldwide.

PLAB 2 – Clinical Skills Assessment
PLAB 2 is a practical, objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) that assesses your ability to apply medical knowledge in real-life scenarios, including communication, diagnosis, and decision-making.

Who Needs to Take the PLAB Exam?
International medical graduates from non-EEA countries who wish to register with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK must pass the PLAB exam to demonstrate their competence.
